    Comparison

Personify vs BuddyPro: where does the coaching live?

Both build an AI trained on your expertise. The difference that decides it for most people is not the model, the price or the feature list. It is whether your client has to install a messaging app before they can ask you a question.

    The Short Answer

Two genuinely different products, aimed at two different audiences.

    Telegram

where a BuddyPro twin lives, per their docs

    Your page

where a Personify clone lives, on your brand

    $2,364

BuddyPro's published annual licence, plus AI usage

Choose BuddyPro if your audience already lives on Telegram, you are selling one premium annual subscription to a consumer audience that already lives in the app. That is what it is built for and it does it deliberately.

Choose Personify if your clone belongs inside the course, membership or site your clients already paid for, if you need it answering in your actual voice, or if asking a client to install a third-party messaging app would cost you the sale.

    The honest version

He gets to send push notifications. You get a client who does not have to join Telegram to talk to their coach.

    Where The Coaching Lives

This is the whole comparison, and everything else follows from it.

BuddyPro's own documentation is unambiguous: "Your BuddyPro AI expert lives on Telegram." Their setup guide then walks the client through installing Telegram on their phone, registering with a phone number, entering an SMS verification code, and linking a desktop device by QR code. All of that happens before the first question gets asked.

A Personify clone lives on a clone page under your own brand. You share the link, or you embed it inside Thinkific, Teachable, Kajabi or Circle with single sign-on, so the student is already logged in. Nothing to install, no phone number, no third party between you and your client.

That is a genuine trade rather than a flaw on either side. Telegram reaches an audience already using it. It also means the coaching relationship you built sits inside a platform neither of you controls.

    The Telegram Question

Worth raising with whoever signs off on your tooling.

For a consumer audience already using Telegram, none of this matters and the reach is an advantage. For regulated or corporate work it is a different conversation, and it is worth having before you build.

Your client's data leaves your control. The conversation history, their phone number and their identity sit with a third party you did not choose and cannot audit.

Corporate buyers often cannot. "Please install Telegram" is a procurement question in financial services, healthcare, law and most corporate learning teams, and frequently the end of one.

You inherit the platform's reputation. Your premium coaching product is experienced inside a consumer messaging app, alongside everything else that happens there.

The moderation record is a matter of public record. Telegram's founder was arrested in France in August 2024 and indicted on twelve charges, including complicity in drug trafficking and child sexual exploitation, arising from the platform's moderation practices. He was questioned again in July 2026 and the investigation remains open. He denies the charges and no finding has been made.

None of that is an accusation about BuddyPro, which chose Telegram for sound product reasons. It is simply the question a compliance officer will ask, and you should know the answer before a client does.

    Side By Side

BuddyPro figures are from buddypro.ai and its own documentation, checked 21 August 2026.

One line worth reading twice. BuddyPro's own documentation puts AI usage at roughly $20 to $30 per subscriber per month on top of the annual licence. At fifty subscribers that is a further $1,000 to $1,500 a month, which is worth modelling before you price your offer.

    The Retention Argument

Their strongest argument against a page-based clone, and what actually happened.

BuddyPro's comparison content argues that a clone on a web page cannot build a habit: that it is something people use once, that notifications never reach anyone, and that no relationship forms. It is a coherent argument, and Telegram does give them a delivery channel an embedded page does not have.

Here is what happened with a real Personify clone. Lucy Gilmour, a career coach, gave her one-to-one clients early access and let them test it for two months before launch. Her account, on camera:

"They say it's like talking to you, Lucy. I could talk to her for hours. And actually, some of them do."

Lucy Gilmour, documenting her build on YouTube. One session ran to three hours.

A three-hour session is not a widget people use once. Habit comes from whether the answers are worth coming back for, and a notification cannot manufacture that. The full case study has the numbers.

    Where BuddyPro Is Genuinely Stronger

What they do well, stated plainly.

Built for one premium subscription. The whole product is shaped around selling a standalone annual subscription, with billing designed for exactly that.

Telegram reach. For an audience already on Telegram, being in the app they check all day is an advantage no embedded page matches.

One caveat on the numbers. BuddyPro's own documentation reports 653 experts building and 150 instances launched, with 5,500 subscribers across the platform. Worth reading carefully alongside the headline revenue figures.

    Which One Fits You

The question that decides it is not about features.

Ask what happens the moment a client wants to speak to your clone. If the honest answer is "they open the course they already bought and it is right there", you want a clone page. If it is "they are on Telegram all day anyway and I want to nudge them on Thursdays", BuddyPro is built for that and you should look at it properly.

Then ask who your buyer is. A consumer audience will install an app. A compliance function will not, and no amount of product quality changes that answer. Done-For-You is where voice, the branded build and the custom work live, and the pricing page sets the self-serve tiers out in full.

    The test

Would you ask your best client to install an app and hand over their phone number before their first question?

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main difference between Personify and BuddyPro?+

Where the coaching happens. BuddyPro delivers through Telegram, so each of your clients installs the Telegram app, registers a phone number and verifies by SMS before they can ask a question. Personify delivers on a clone page under your own brand, which you can embed inside Thinkific, Teachable, Kajabi or Circle with single sign-on, so clients stay in the course they already paid for and install nothing.

    Does BuddyPro have voice cloning?+

BuddyPro states voice cloning in its own documentation, describing it as text-to-speech with your voice. Personify Done-For-You builds a professional voice clone at 97% likeness and supports live voice conversation rather than a spoken readout of chat replies. Voice cloning is part of the Done-For-You service on Personify, not the self-serve plans.

How much does each one cost?+

BuddyPro publishes $197 per month billed annually, which is $2,364 a year, plus AI usage that its own documentation puts at roughly $20 to $30 per subscriber per month. Personify has a free tier, Pro at $39 a month or $29 a month billed annually, and Done-For-You scoped on a discovery call. Done-For-You builds carry no Personify commission on what you charge for access.

Is Telegram a problem for coaching clients?+

It depends entirely on your audience. For a consumer audience already on Telegram it is frictionless. For corporate, financial services, healthcare or executive coaching it is usually a procurement conversation, because you are asking clients to install a third-party messaging app and hand it a phone number before they can speak to their coach.

Which one is better for selling a subscription?+

BuddyPro is built around selling a standalone annual subscription and includes Stripe billing for it. Personify supports charging for clone access from the Pro tier through Stripe Connect, and Done-For-You builds carry no Personify commission. If your model is a single premium subscription to your audience, look closely at both. If your clone belongs inside an existing course or membership, Personify fits that shape better.
