How coaches use AI clones: selling, onboarding, and support

Most coaches build one clone, put it on one page, and wait. It works, but it is doing one job in a business that has three. Someone deciding whether to buy has different questions from someone who bought yesterday, and both have different questions from someone in week six.

One clone trained on everything answers all three the same way, which means it answers none of them particularly well. Here is what running more than one actually looks like.

How do I use an AI clone to sell my course?

Put it on the page where people decide.

A sales clone is trained on the things buyers ask before they pay: what the programme covers, who it suits, what it costs, how much time it takes, and what happens if it does not work for them. It is not a chatbot that greets everyone. It is the answer to the question that was about to make someone close the tab.

What it needs to know: your sales page, your FAQ, your refund terms, the objections you hear on calls, and the two or three cases where you would honestly tell someone not to buy. That last part matters. A clone that talks everyone into buying produces refunds.

The questions it gets asked are the cheapest audience research you will ever run, because they record what people wanted to know but never emailed to ask.

How do I get new students up to speed faster?

Give week one its own clone.

The first fortnight is where programmes are won or lost. New students do not yet know your vocabulary, cannot find anything, and will not ask in the group because they do not want to look lost. They quietly stall instead.

An onboarding clone is trained narrowly: where to start, what the first module actually asks of them, what your terms mean, and what to do first if they only have twenty minutes this week. It should be comfortable saying "that comes later, here is what matters now", which is exactly what a general clone will not do, because it knows everything at once and will happily explain module nine to someone on day two.

How does a coaching clone work once someone is in?

This is the one most people build first, and it is the right one to build first.

A coaching clone carries the whole methodology. It answers at 3am, it explains a framework for the fourth time without sighing, and it keeps people moving between your calls. It answers in 100+ languages, so students who think in another language get your frameworks in theirs.

It goes inside the course on Kajabi, Thinkific, Teachable or Podia, in your Circle or Discord community, and as a share link for people who are not in either. This is the clone worth feeding properly.

What it does not do is replace you. It handles the repetition so your live time is spent on the things only you can do. If you want the arithmetic on what that is worth, the ROI breakdown works it through.

Do I need separate clones, or one that does everything?

Start with one. Split it when you can name the question it is answering badly.

The honest test is whether the two audiences want different things. A buyer and a week-one student are asking genuinely different questions, so splitting them helps. A week-six student and a week-ten student mostly are not, so splitting those is work for no gain.

Three signals that it is time to split:

    • You are writing different instructions into the same clone for different groups
    • The answers are correct but arriving at the wrong moment, like pricing detail to someone who already paid
    • You want to charge for one and not the other

If none of those are true, deepen the clone you have. A better-fed single clone beats three thin ones every time.

This is a different decision from adding a clone for a second, separate audience, which has its own economics. That one is covered in The Second AI Clone Problem.

What does each clone need to be trained on?

The overlap is smaller than you would think.

Most of what a sales clone needs, a coaching clone should never say, and the reverse is also true.

Which plan do I need for this?

Build one first. Add the second when you can name what it is for.

The free plan gives you one clone and 100 messages a month, which is enough to build one of these properly and see how it handles your real questions. It is not enough to run several, and it does not include Stripe Connect, so you cannot charge for access.

Running more than one clone, and charging for any of them, is Pro at $39 a month, or $29 a month billed annually. The pricing page has the full comparison.

Build one clone, feed it well, and put it where people already are.

When you can name a question it is answering at the wrong moment, that is your second clone telling you what it is for.

    FAQs

The questions coaches ask before adding a second one.

Can I have more than one AI clone?

Yes, on Pro. The free plan includes one clone, which is the right number to start with anyway. Most coaches build the coaching clone first, then add a sales clone once they can see what people ask before they buy.

Should my clone answer pre-sale questions on my website?

Usually yes, and it is the fastest one to build because you already have the material. Your sales page, your FAQ and the objections you handle on calls are most of the training data. Keep it separate from the clone your students use, so it does not answer a buyer's question with the inside of your programme.

What is the difference between a sales clone and a normal chatbot?

A chatbot answers from general training data and a script. A clone answers from your material, in your frameworks and your words, including the parts where you would tell someone this is not for them. The difference shows up most on the questions a script does not cover.

How long does it take to set up each one?

About 10 minutes each once you have the material together. Gathering the material is the real work, and it is a different set of documents for each clone.

Can I charge for access to one clone and not another?

Yes. Stripe Connect is included on Pro, so you can put a coaching clone behind a payment and leave the sales clone open to everyone. That is the usual arrangement.

Do my clones share what they know?

No. Each one answers from what you gave it, which is the point. A sales clone that had your whole course would start explaining module nine to someone who has not bought.

Does this work in other languages?

Yes. Clones answer in 100+ languages, so a student can ask in theirs and get your frameworks back in theirs.
